Bike to unpretentious and pristine Sabbath Day lake, rent a kayak, check out the wildlife (or maybe throw in a line), then have lunch at Bresca and the Honeybee at Outlet Beach.

The family-owned beach has been a fixture on the northern shore of the lake since 1930. The sandy beach has a picnic area, bathhouses and restrooms. You can rent canoes, paddleboats and kayaks - but the food at Bresca is one simple reason to take this route. It is owned by Krista Kern Desjarlais, a James Beard award-nominated chef who once ran a very popular restaurant in Portland. Locally sourced ingredients go into creative menu items like the Hot Dog Indochine ~ (pickled carrot, radish, cilantro, basil, Fresno chili, cucumber, citrus chili, mayo and hoisin) and the Summer Salade (which is garnished with flowers).

And the ice cream. It's all homemade with natural extracts. Crème fraîche Key Lime Pie has chunks of crushed graham crackers. It's a must try.

The beach is open from Memorial Day through mid-September. CASH ONLY!
